Carved drywall, dust, wood and glass

With a background as a weaver, I use lace structures as a conceptual foundation for my work. I see lace as a container of negative space. I argue that the negative space is more important than the patterns or the thread itself. Lace becomes a container of absence. It is a place holder that allows for the separation from the other side and the eroticization of the things or person beyond. This can either be used as a point of power or a point of objectification. Here I discover a fine balance and tension. Through this new definition of lace as a container of absence, I arrive at my study of architectural space.
